The Forrest Cottage was designed and constructed using the Passivhaus basics. Simple design principles were applied to ensure the two-bed cottage is functional, comfortable and reflects the traditional logging cabins of the region. Built to meet BAL-40 fire standards, it is constructed with high quality materials and workmanship informed by comprehensive building science. Quality Paarhammer double glazed windows and doors, highly insulated double stud walls and intelligent membranes ensures heat generated by the Skantherm and distributed via the heat recovery ventilation is retained within the building envelope for as long as possible on those cold Forrest winter nights. Available for rental as a holiday cabin, it is enjoyed by hundreds of visitors each year who regularly comment on the thermal comfort this building offers.
